TITLE: Component Engineer

REPORTS TO: Chief Hardware Engineer

THE COMPANY
The company designs, manufactures and sells electronic data acquisition and process control products. The company has a record of implementing modern manufacturing techniques and principles.

JOB DESCRIPTION
An engineer is required to manage the electronic components in use and those being introduced through new product introduction.

The objectives will be:

To minimise the components currently in use

To set up and maintain a system that allows development engineers to make suitable component selection in the UK and overseas

To assist the Purchasing department in the sourcing of problem components

It is likely that the function will be extended to include the management of component obsolescence.

PERSONAL PROFILE
Qualifications:
A professional or academic qualification is required in the field of electronic engineering.

Experience:
The candidate’s present position is likely to be in manufacturing or quality with a knowledge of purchasing issues.

It is also expected that the successful candidate will have a background in electronic design.

Skills:
IT skills must include the ability to set up and maintain databases, both within a PC environment and within a corporate intranet.

Behavioural skills:
It is important that the engineer appointed has good interpersonal skills and enjoys handling detail.
